Dr David Whiley is a Senior Research Scientist at Pathology Queensland, Principal Research Scientist at Public and Environmental Health Forensic and Scientific Services, Microbiology and Principal Research Fellow at the UQ Centre for Clinical Research.

He has over 240 publications to date, and has been Clinical Investigator on numerous research grants, including grants awarded from NHRMC, ARC and The Children's Hospital Foundation.

David is passionate about mentoring staff, leveraging external funding and working with research partners to enhance the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases in Queensland and elsewhere.

Research interests and expertise

David's research focuses on rapid diagnostics, including developing rapid assays, for detecting antimicrobial resistance to directly inform patient treatment.
