Sarah Wheatley

Sarah began working at Queensland Health in the Serology, Virology and Molecular Diagnostic department at the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital. In 2011 she transferred to Public Health Virology at Forensic and Scientific Services to continue work in infectious diseases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Griffith University, Queensland.

Research interests

  • Serological diagnosis of vector-borne viral and rickettsial diseases
  • Application of multiplexed microsphere (Luminex®) assays for diagnosis of vector-borne and other viral diseases

Expertise

  • Trained and competent in Security Sensitive Biological Agents (SSBA), National Association of Testing Authorities Australia (NATA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and Biosecurity, Department of Agriculture (AQIS) requirements for PC2/PC3/PC4 laboratories
  • The Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (RCPA) pre-issue testing and case history writing
  • Administer, perform and report in Quality Assurance Programs resulting in improved quality within the department.
